Available Data for Shipments

Last updated: March 26, 2026

Terminal49 gets data from variety of sources in order to create a complete view of a shipment and containers. However, some data is not universally available from all sources, and some data does not become available until certain milestones pass. This page will help you understand which data sources we support, and which data items should be universally expected.

Data Sources

Supported Ocean Carriers

Terminal49 is integrated with all major ocean carriers, providing coverage for 98% of ocean shipments worldwide. Every shipping line provides slightly different data.

You can see all supported carriers and which data points are available for each one at this link.

Container Terminals

Terminal49 is currently integrated with container terminals in the US, Mexico, UK and Canada. For ports outside this coverage area, terminal-specific data (such as container availability, holds, fees, and last free day) will not be available, though you will continue to receive steamship line updates when containers reach these unsupported ports. You can see a list of all supported terminals and their specific attributes on our terminal data matrix.

If you need coverage for a specific unsupported port, you can submit a request including the port location and estimated annual container volume via support@terminal49.com or in-app chat.

Rail Carriers

Terminal49 is currently integrated with 6 rail carriers. You can see a list of all supported rail carriers at this link.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is some data missing or unavailable for my shipment?

Not all data is universally available. Some fields are only supported by certain ocean carriers, available at specific port terminals, or supported by some rail carriers. Please check our data matrix for more information.

Does Terminal49 support ports outside the US?

Terminal49 is currently integrated only with container terminals in the US, Mexico, UK and Canada. For ports outside this coverage area, terminal-specific data (such as container availability, holds, fees, and Last Free Day (LFD)) will not be available. You can still receive ocean carrier updates for containers at unsupported ports. To request coverage for a specific port, contact support@terminal49.com with the port location and estimated annual container volume.

How do I know which milestones Terminal49 tracks?

The Milestones Events Supported section above lists all milestone events that the Terminal49 Application Programming Interface (API) can track, along with the event names used in webhook payloads. The list may expand as additional milestones are added in the future.
